The filming technique that stands out most to me in the introduction opening scene is the sounds/music, the film begins with a documentary clip of Christchurch New Zealand, during clip the music is playing cheerful and happy. This is because the clip is giving viewers the allusion of Christchurch being a beautiful and harmonious place. The music helps give the illusion that everything in the city is perfect, however as the scene transitions from the documentary clip to the storyline, the music becomes dark and more menacing and is the happy cheerful music is taken over by the two girls running and screaming. Peter Jackson uses this to show that Christchurch was hiding a dark and daunting side to it, this side includes the two deluded and odd young girls.
